Martapura, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Regent Banjar Sultan H Khairul Saleh and Chairman of the PKK Banjar Hj Raudhatul Jannah together with Gambut community held a rice harvest to support the national food self-sufficiency.
Harvest for farmers group Maju Bersama took place in the village of Guntung Ujung on Tuesday, attended the District Commanders 1006/Martapura and staffs, Regional Secretary of Banjar Ir Nasrun Syah MP, as well as some elements of the Regional Leadership Forum and officials.
Khairul Saleh said the government was determined to the maximum extent that Banjar district can improve agriculture and plantations, particularly the rice harvest, corn and soybeans in an effort to realize the target of self-sufficiency.
By doing yielding rice harvest and conduct initial local rice planting area of 140 hectares at Gambut, Banjar participate and support the national food self-sufficiency.
Head of Agriculture, Farm and Livestock Agency Ir Dondit Bekti Agustiono explained, in addition to rice, Banjar has also great potential to improve the soybean.
For the area planted in 2015, Banjar District has prepared 80,000 hectares of rice land with a production target 325,920 tons/ha, 1,100 ha of maize land production with a target of 4,802 tons/ha, and 3,500 ha of soybean land with a production targets 4,536 tons/ha.
Banjar, especially Sub-district of Gambut, has been known as one of the granary in South Kalimantan.
