Kandangan, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Chairwoman of South Hulu Sungai's Family Welfare Movement (PKK HSS) Hj Isnaniah Achmad Fikry reviewed the Visual Acetate Inspection (IVA) and clinical Breast Examination (Sadanis) held at the Wasah Puskesmas (community health center) in Simpur Sub-district.
Chairperson of PKK Simpur in Wasah, Tuesday (Oct 13, 2020), said that the test was attended by all village in Simpur with a total of 15 people per village, and was carried out in stages.
"With this examination, we hope more and more Indonesian women, especially of productive age in Simpur Sub-district, will stay healthy and prevented from breast cancer and cervical cancer," she said.
Chairwoman of PKK HSS Hj. Isnaniah said that at the Wasah Puskesmas the IVA test (to identify cervical cancer) and Sadanis (clinical breast examinations to detect breast cancer) held routinely every year.
She was grateful, even though there was a COVID-19 pandemic, the IVA test and Sadanis could still be carried out in all sub-districts throughout the HSS regency.
"This procedure is a form of early detection of cervical cancer and can only be done by gynecologists or another competent health worker, so the diagnosis is not wrong. While Sadanis is carried out by health officers," she said.
The problem is most of IVA participants do not want to be checked because they are afraid. The solution was by providing counseling on the same day before the examination, like in Wasah Village.
A resident of Ulun Village, Mariati, said that she participated in the test because she wanted to know about IVA health, so she finds out if there is a disease, or symptoms or not.
