Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The inflation rate in South Kalimantan in August 2020 was 0.25 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) 105.3 according to the statistical survey results of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
Based on the calendar year, in August 2020 South Kalimantan experienced an inflation of 0.28 percent, while the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2020 against August 2019) was 1.17 percent.
Head of South Kalimantan BPS M Edy Mahmud in Banjarbaru, Tuesday said inflation occurred in two cities in the province, namely Banjarmasin 0.31 percent and Kotabaru 0.23 percent. While deflation occurred in Tanjung 0.43 percent.
"Inflation occurs due to rising prices, which are shown in most of the expenditure group, including personal care and transportation," he said by video conference.

Commodities with the highest share of inflation in South Kalimantan, including air transportation, gold jewelry, cooking oil, mackerel, and filter clove cigarettes.
While commodities which share the highest deflation, including purebred chicken, eggs, shallots, tilapia, and sugar.
Meanwhile, of 12 CPI cities in Kalimantan, inflation occurred in three cities, the rest experienced deflation.
The highest inflation occurred in Tarakan 0.35 percent and the lowest in Kotabaru 0.23 percent. While the city with the highest deflation was Sintang 0.58 percent and the lowest was Pontianak 0.15 percent.
Of 90 CPI cities in Indonesia, inflation occurred in 37 cities and deflation occurred in 53 cities. The highest inflation was in Meulaboh 0.88 percent and the lowest in Batam, Kediri, and Kotamobagu.
