Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) hosted the launch of Asta Kampus dan Sekolah in commemoration of National Waste Awareness (HPSN) 2025 at ULM Banjarbaru Auditorium, Saturday.
The Asta Kampus and Sekolah is a waste awareness lifestyle campaign, a collaboration between the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education.
"It is an honor for ULM that today three ministries are gathering at once to promote waste care action in the educational environment," said ULM Rector Professor Ahmad Alim Bachri in his welcome remarks.
The Rector emphasized the importance of waste management which has been an environmental problem and ULM is ready to be a strategic partner of the government in saving the environment and educating the public with waste management education.
Meanwhile, Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq pointed out the importance of cross-sector cooperation in dealing with waste problems.
With the joining of three ministries it is expected that waste problems in Indonesia will be better handled considering that waste has become a global issue with wide impact, from health up to the environment.
"This is part of the upstream efforts, namely how to change the culture of waste awareness that must begin from education for school and college students," he expounded.
The same thing were conveyed by Higher Education, Science and Technology Deputy Minister Professor Fauzan and Primary and Secondary Education Deputy Minister Professor Atip Latipulhayat who agreed to involve universities and schools in a real movement to reduce the negative impact of waste on the environment through a waste awareness lifestyle campaign.
The three ministries held a video conference with eight universities in Indonesia who were present online. They were greeted one by one by Environment Minister, who is an alumnus of ULM's Forestry Faculty.
