Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Cooperative, Industry and Trade Office (Disperindag) has collaborated with the Kotabaru Cooperative, Industry and Trade Office to anticipate an increase in inflation.
"This is our joint effort to control inflation in South Kalimantan, especially in Kotabaru. We begin early in 2023 with the hope that inflation could be below 1 percent," said Head of the South Kalimantan Cooperative, Industry and Trade Office Birhasani here as reported on Wednesday.
He expounded that discounted market or market operation is a short term effort by providing various kind of basic needs and other necessities, besides rice, sugar, cooking oil, and chili.
Special subsidzed prices are prepared by the provincial government and the Kotabaru government will follow it.
”We have to collaborate to slow down inflation to the target of below one percent," he pointed out.
The combined inflation rate is currently at 6.99 and the government early this year trying to reduce it in the range of 3 percent with a deviation of 1 percent.
He called all parties to help in controlling inflation , including by maintaining the stability of supply and price.
“No party should take advantage of this situation for personal gain by hording or selling price above the highest retail price set by the government,” he said.
Heaf of the Kotabaru Disperindag Hardani expressed his gratitude to the provincial government, in this case to the GovernorSahbirin, for implementing the first discounted market in early 2023.
”The regent has intructed us to immediately redy activities like this. The plan is there will be 41 discounted market to be held every months,” Hardani explained.
One of residents of Hilir Muara Village, Mariani, said she was very grateful for the low price market has been provided that it was really help people in Kotabaru to meet their daily needs.
"We hope that market operation can be carried out again ahead of Ramadhan," said Mariani.
