Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar symbolically handed over 1.311 food packages to residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in three sub-districts. At the end of the activity, the entourage was blocked by flooding in Sekandis Village, Pamukan Selatan Sub-district.
Starting his trip to these areas, the regent and his entourage headed to Tebing Tinggi Village, Kelumpang Tengah Sub-district, by submitting 547 food packages for 13 villages. In addition, BLT (direct cash assistance) was handed over to 446 people, and one PPE for the local tough village (kampung tangguh).
They then continued to Kelumpang Utara and again handed over assistance of as many as 306 food packages for seven villages and one PPE for the Pudi Tough Village.
The district head took a time to visit farmer groups in the Pudi Seberang Village to dialogue with farmers who were working on a 25 hectares demonstration paddy field.

Finally, the entourage headed to Sekandis Village and delivered as many as 468 food packages for 11 villages. At the same time, the regent handed over an ambulance for Sakadoyan Village.
Regent H Sayed Jafar advised that the aid really reached the community in need, who were affected by the pandemic. "Hopefully this assistance will be useful for people who really need it," he said.
He also reminded residents to always obey the health protocol, thus they are always healthy and secure to be avoided from COVID-19 which sweeping across the world.
While Acting Head of Social Agency Nurviza said, the food packages assistance was a program from the Kotabaru government which source of funds came from the local budget ((APBD).
After completing the activity, the group headed home, but the motorcade was blocked by flood due to high rainfall in Sekandis, Pamukan Selatan Sub-district. After the rain stopped, the group continued the trip.
