Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Commander of 1004 Kotabaru Military Command Lt.Col.Inf. Rony Fitriyanto stated he immediately deployed personnel to help the handling of victims of fire disaster in the Sungai Bali Village, Pulau Sebuku, Kotabaru, occured on Saturday (Nov 23, 2019) at around 10 p.m.
Rony on Sunday (Nov 24, 2019) said, the military personnel built tents, open public kitchen, and handling of health and other things needed. They also helped the distribution of assistance in order all victims were better handled.
"Quite a lot of victims of the fire disaster, which occured Saturday night. Temporary report said 400 houses were burnt and about 1,800 residents left homeless. But for certain, we are still collecting data," he said.
According to him, the team of the Kotabaru government, including the regent and others, have been at the location of the fire, to ensure the condition of people.
Not only houses, the fire razed public facilities, such as places of worship, offices, market, police dormitories, even PT Silo heavy equipment which helped the victims.
So far there is no report of fatalities in the fire accident.
