Tanbu Industry "Champion"

Banjarmasin, (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) - The Ministry of Industry set Tanah Bumbu as a "champion" of steel-based industries to encourage the emergence of centers of industrial growth through the development of industrial estates Batulicin.

Director General of Regional Development Industry (PPI) of the Ministry of Industry Dedy Mulyadie on South Kalimantan Province Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbang) in Banjarmasin on Wednesday said the government was working on various plans and development facilities in Batulicin industrial center.

Efforts that have been made include the preparation of a master plan for Batulicin industrial area since 2000. "With the steel industry base for the development of industrial areas in Batulicin expected to be the drivers of growth of other industries," he said.

A concrete example, said Dedy, Cilegon that has steel industry, its growth of  industry is very high now, and it does not close the possibility in Tanah Bumbu Regency.

The government has also established a strategic plan (Renstra) Batulicin industrial area in 2012 and is expected to be realized in subsequent years. In addition,  in 2013 conducted the development planning of steel innovation center in the area. "There has been an investor, PT Meratus Jaya Iron Steel," he said.

Why selected steel industry to be developed in Tanah Bumbu, because the steel industry is another industry powerhouse, both for supporting industries, downstream and upstream industries. According to him, the growth of the steel industry will grow rapidly, as people need steel in everyday life.

In addition, the multiplier effect is quite large, both for the reduction of the unemployment rate, economic growth in the area, as well as for the advancement of the region.

South Kalimantan Musrenbang which was opened by Governor Rudy Ariffin was also attended by some regents and mayors as well as officials.
