Kandangan, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Deputy Regent of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Syamsuri Arsyad chaired the coordination meeting on prevention of forest and land fire prevention in the HSS Disaster Mitigation, National Unity and Politics (PB Kesbangpol) Office.
He said, the vacant land can be planted with shady trees to feels cool, and it is one of the 2018-2023 policies of Hijau Desaku (Green Village of Mine) which is expected to eventually all have no arid villages.
"The prevention and mitigation of disasters starting from our awareness, that nature if it is maintained it will look after us," he said during a speech on Thursday (6/20).
He explained the need for HSS district to have a potential disaster map followed by the provision of human resources, thus after mapping it could be reflected in the number of measurable and structured HR.
Furthermore, matters relating to disaster management have to be prepared from now, methods for how to deal with them, as well as facilities and funds. In the midst of limitations, he hopes that the funds will be effective, as well as assistance from companies such as CSR funds.
PB Kesbangpol Secretary H. Makmur said the number of participants in the coordination meeting were 60 consisted of all elements of the sub-district, related agencies, and from the company.
Based on BMKG data, he said, the dry season began on June 1, 2019, but it was still accompanied by rain, and in some places there were floods, so vigilance is needed.
In addition to forest fires, HSS needs to be aware of floods and landslides due to rain, and drought in the dry season, and tornadoes that do not select the season.
He invited all parties to work hand in hand in efforts to prevent forest fires and various disasters.
