Balangan, South Kalimantan (Antaranews South Kalimantan) - Mental Hospital (RSJ)Sambang Lihum in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan, on the grounds of excesscapacity, refused to provide care to a person with a psychiatric disorder andwas deprived.
The patient is a 25 year old man, a resident of sub-District Lampihong, Balangan,deprived for at least five years by way of parenthesis in a room locked fromthe outside.
He said on Saturday (16/3) then, with the consent of the family, the localhealth center officials concerned to deliver RSJ Sambang Lihum for treatment. "Butthe RSJ said they were having excess capacity, so there is no place to accommodatepeople," he said.
Clinic officer later reported the matter to the RMF which the members of the QuickReaction Team (TRC) of Social Ministry specifically dealing with patients with psychiatricdisorders deprived. RMF directly approached the emergency unit (UGD) of RSJ but to no avail. The UGD only provided sufficientdrug to the patient consumed for 15 days.
RMF has previously been rejected by RSJ Sambang Lihum while trying to enter threedeprived victims with psychiatric disorder from sub-District Hantakan, Hulu SungaiTengah (HST) with same reason excess capacity.
