Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Residents of Gunungsari, North Pulau Laut, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, backed to their normal activity after handling the impact of floods and landslides.
The acting head of the Kotabaru Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Rusian Ahmadi said here on Friday the ruins and wrecks from the flood and landslides that have piled up roads have been cleared.
"High rainfall caused flooding and around 50 meters of road bodies in Gunungsari village were buried by landslides, so transportation was disrupted," he told.
The main road body eroded by floods has also been filled using rocks and soil. "The eroded road body is about 10 meters x 2 meters," Rusian added.
The flood that hit Gunungsari on June 8 also made public facilities, such as places of worship and schools inundated. The flood also ruined the embankment of a reservoir of the local water tap company in Tirawan.
In order to help residents meet their water needs, BPBD has mobilized clean water tankers to supply water to residents' homes.
