Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq gave reinforcement to University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) to obtain the best accreditation after it went through field assessment by the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT).

"The Minister assesses that ULM has given its best with all its capacity in the Three Missions (Tri Dharma) of Higher Education," said ULM Rector Professor Ahmad Alim Bachri here, Friday.

As alumni of ULM Faculty of Forestry's S1 (bachelor) and S2 (magister), Hanif fully supports ULM to regain its position as the best univeristy in Kalimantan (Borneo).

Hanif ensured that ULM is currently at the forefront in the field of wetland environment.

It is now managing and rehabilitating mangrove land in the coastal area of Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, covering 611 hectares.

ULM is the only university in the world that owns and manages mangrove land, so it is in line with ULM's target to be the center of excellence for wetland in Asia-Pacific by the end of 2027.

Hanif said that ULM has a noble goal of improving coastal ecosystem and providing economic and social benefits to local communities.

The government gives full support for ULM's initiative to build Indonesia's Tropical Mangrove Laboratory.
