South Kalimantan contingent won a silver medal in the men's rowing at the 20th National Sports Week (PON) 2021 in Papua.
South Kalimantan rowers, said Chairman of the province's National Sports Committee (KONI) H Bambang Hari Purnama, won a silver medal in 500-meter kayak event in Yutepa Bay, Jayapura City, Wednesday.
Bambang, who directly witnessed the rowing sport event, expressed his pride in the struggle of South Kalimantan athletes.
"I congratulate South Kalimantan rowers, keep fighting, and don't be complacent," he cheered up.
Rowing, he said, was the first to contribute medal for the South Kalimantan contingent.

South Kalimantan rowing coach Donny Achdiat said his team recorded a time of 01,34,848 just behind West Java 01,33,431. While the third position was occupied by the host, Papua, with a record time of 01,34,848.
In this four men kayak event for a distance of 500 meter, South Kalimantan fielded rowers Fadli Yanor, Abdul Hanif, Ramadhani, and Muhammad Faisal.
Donny Achdiat said the wind factor affected the performance of his athletes and failed to win gold. However, he was grateful that South Kalimantan won the first medal in PON which will open on October 2, 2021.
