“EE” that's the short name for the liquid of a million benefits.
The fermented liquid from a mixture of organic waste with sugar and water has a familiar name eco enzyme. It contains many types of natural enzymes from fruit and vegetables, as well as those produced by microbes.
Tuti Mardiyati, one of the environmental cadres guided by Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation (YABN) shared her knowledge in making EE.
Starting from following the technical guidance of the Ministry of Environment, then being active in the Eco Enzym community, now Tuti invites women in her neighborhood and other YABN assisted environmental cadres to make EE.
“I like to do this for the benefit of our earth and sustainability of our grandchildren in the future,” said Tuti, who has a high social spirit and environmental sensitivity.

She said EE has a million benefits because it utilizes organic waste, and the manufacturing process is very easy.
“Just remember, 1, 3, and 10 that's the formula,” she explained. One part of sugar, 3 for organic waste, and 10 for water.
It is easy to make it. Prepare a plastic container according to the required capacity, then put all ingredients according to formula (1:3:10). Make sure all are mixed, then close tightly and let stand for 90 days, then ready to be harvested.
For good quality, Tuti gives some tips, including the container and stirrer used must be made of plastic. The types of organic waste are fresh fruits skin and vegetables with various types, such as durian or salak skin.
It is better to use well water or rainwater. If you use tap water, it must be deposited for 2-3 days.
The sugar recommended is natural sugar, and not to use granulated sugar.
So far, Tuti has harvested 50 liters EE and enjoyed the benefits for herself.
“Besides reducing organic waste, I use it for washing dishes, washing clothes, mopping floor, cleaning toilet, even for bathing and shampooing,” she said.
She said EE she made was very fragrant and feel cool after using. It also can be used for therapy to treat sore feet and sprue as well.
In the fermentation process, Tuti was lucky because the EE she produced contained Pitera mushroom so it can be used for a body scrub and face masks.
Even EE waste can be used to eradicate insects and cockroaches as well as for fertilizer.
There are so many benefits, for the environment, health, and can replace household products, so you can save monthly household expenses.
Come on, what are you waiting for. Let's make eco enzyme!!!
