Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - PT Indonesia Bulk Terminal (PT IBT), part of Adaro Logistics, together with the state vocational school SMK Negeri Pulau Laut Barat, conducted 1,000 mangrove planting on the coast of Tamiang Bay or Teluk Tamiang, Kotabaru District, South Kalimatan.
PT IBK Operation Department Head Budi Maryudi Wiyanto said that the planting action was a form of cross-sectoral collaboration in an effort to support environmental conservation and to empower local community.
"This is a form of the company's commitment operating in coastal areas to support environmental preservation," said Budi, Tuesday (Dec 10, 2024).
He said, mangrove planting is not only for now, but also for the future generations.

The planting symbolically started by Head of Teluk Tamiang Village Hendra, Chairman of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) Munadi, Chief of Neighborhood Unit (RT) 06 Caming, Principal of MTs DDI Teluk Tamiang, Babinsa (a village supervisory non-commissioned officers) in Pulau Laut Barat, SMKN teachers, epsecially from the major Marine Agribusiness and Brakish and Salt Water Fisheries.
Students of SMKN Pulau Laut Barat, the local communities and representatives of PT IBT involved in the action.
"Through this activities students can directly involve in real action to protect the environment and we hope this collaboration to continue, because it has a positive impact for the community and coastal ecosystem," said Principal of SMKN Pulau Laut Barat Saifullah.
Head of Pulau Laut Barat Sub-district Hasan also appreciated this program as a good first step to improve coastal ecosystem and the local ecology.
Meanwhwile, representative of the Kotabaru Environment Office from the Division of Environment Protection and Manaement (P3LH) Mahrisa expressed her support for this program considering that mangrove have an important role in preventing abrasion, maintaining ecosystem balance and as a habitat for marine biota.
"We really appreciate the initiative implemented by PT IBT and SMK Negeri PLB," she said.
