South Kalimantan Disaster Mitigation Agency's (BPBD's) team helped evacuate flood victims in Central Kalimantan.

Head of Emergency of the agency Saefudin Dinarja from Kasongan, Central Kalimantan, reported on Friday that the team since Wednesday had evacuated dozens of residents who had been trapped in the flood.

"We evacuated residents on Jl Pahlawan consisting of three children, one of them toddler, and five adults. Evacuation carried out from 21.00 to 24.00 WIB (West Indonesian Time)," he said.

The next day, the team continued to evacuate residents on Jl Bukit Raya, Kasongan Lama Urban Village, also in Katingan Hilir Sub-district, Katingan. At this location, the team also distributed 500 packages of lunch.

"The number of people affected by flood in this area is more than 300 families," said Dinarja.

Based on the monitoring of South Kalimantan BPBD, the water level varies from 50 cm to 2 meters with a fairly heavy current.

Of the 12 team members who were deployed to help flood victims, three are women, they are Sely, Aisyah, and Yasmin.

"Our three female volunteers are assigned to a public kitchen built by the Katingan Social Agency," said Dinarja.

South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor expressed his appreciation for the BPBD's quick response to his instruction.

"I always remind the government working units (SKPD) to move quickly in the event of a disaster, including to help neighboring areas if a disaster occurs," he said.

Governor also said that the flood disaster that occurred in Central Kalimantan must be addressed with mutual cooperation and brotherly cohesiveness.

"I am very grateful if there are other components of community or the district/city government to help," he said.
