He reminded that the COVID-19 vaccination is very important because it can trigger the body's immune system to fight against the coronavirus, thus the person's risk of being infected is much smaller.
"Even if someone who has been vaccinated is infected, the vaccine can prevent severe symptoms and complications," he said.
He explained that because the vaccines available in Indonesia are not sufficient to be given for all people, then several groups are prioritized to get vaccinated.
They are health workers, the elderly, teachers, officials, or people with high-risk occupations of infection, such as TNI/Polri, law enforcement, and other public service officers.
After all these groups have received the vaccine, then vaccination will be continued to other groups, starting with residents in areas with high cases.
In addition, he said, early detection to the spread of COVID-19 in a fast, flexible, and easily accessible by the public is absolutely necessary.
Likewise, the implementation of health protocols, namely washing hands with soap, wearing masks, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility.
"The movement to comply with health protocols is to protect those who are vulnerable," he said.
