The Regent of Tapin HM Arifin Arpan expected that the extension of restrictions on the movement of people (PPKM) will reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 among the people.

"We hope that the risk of COVID-19 transmission can be reduced," he said, Monday.

He said, the PPKM extension until February 8 was in accordance with the instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Governor of South Kalimantan which was then followed up by Regent Regulation No 40 of 2020.

The PPKM extension was agreed upon at the meeting of the Task Force for COVID-19 handling and to be carried out by 3 pillars, namely TNI (Indonesian Military), Polri (National Police), and the government.

"The process of the first phase of PPKM basically has run well and the public certainly has a better understanding," he said.

The extended PPKM, the Regent said, is not much different from the first. There are 11 points stated in the circular letter.

These points are limiting office activities, namely 75 percent WFH and 25 percent WFO, learning held online, essential sectors related to basic needs implemented 100 percent by regulating hours of operation, health protocol to be applied strictly.

Restriction of activities of restaurant and cafe 25 percent, and limited operating hours for shopping centers.

Constructive activities are allowed by applying health protocol, allow places of worship with a capacity limit of 50 percent, capacity limitation of only 25 percent for social activities, and re-optimize the COVID-19 task force post.
