Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru Regent Sayed Jafar handed over aid to victims of landslides in Teluk Sungai Village, Matasirih Island.
"There are several landslides that have taken place in Teluk Sungai Village. We together with the village head and the group reviewed the places to relocate residents housing so that it would be better as well as our efforts to anticipate a similar disaster," he said in Kotabaru on Wednesday.
He also expressed his condolences for the disaster that had befallen the people of Teluk Sungai, Pulau Sembilan Sub-district.
"On behalf of the Kotabaru District Government and personally, I express my deepest condolences, may the victims be given steadfastness and patience and get the best from Allah SWT," he said.
He also thanked the joint team of BPBD, National SAR Agency, fire and rescue agency, Kotabaru District Military Command 1004, Pulau Sembilan Sub-District Police, and communities who had tried to help evacuate and search for two undiscovered victims.
Assistance submitted, namely packages of basic necessities, instant noodles, mineral water, and decent clothes for the victims.
Jafar Regent also reviewed the location of landslides and alternative locations to relocate victims.
During a visit to Sembilian Island, the Regent was accompanied by Chief of Kodim 1004 staff, expert staff, and several SKPD heads along with ranks using the crane ship.
Landslides on Wednesday (24/4) resulted in two local residents allegedly buried by landslides, namely a mother named Hikmah (25) and her child, Dea (six months).
The landslide in Matasirih also affected 15 families. They were 10 families in Teluk Sungai Village and five families in Labuhan Barat Village.
