Paringin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The joint team of the North Hulu Sungai (HSU) Food and Drug Administration (BPOM), Balangan Health Agency, Balangan Fisheries Agency, and Balangan Food Security Agency held raids on products suspected of containing formaldehyde at Adaro Paringin Modern Market on Monday.
Tests were carried out on 31 samples consisting of salted kingfish, salted long-jawed mackerel fish, tuna salted fish, fresh long-jawed mackerel, fresh squid, fresh selar fish, fresh lanjar fish, fresh shrimp, ebi, fresh sardines, and sliced shrimp paste.
The test results using Formalin Rapid Test Kit showed that all fish samples and shrimp paste fulfilled the requirements (MS) or did not contain formalin and Rhodamin B.
Head of BPOM HSU Bambang Hery stated the Formalin Rapid Test Kit test had not found formalin in fresh fish, salted fish or shrimp paste.
"This is a follow-up to the implementation of a food market operation free of formalin November 13, 2018. Previously we found dried formalin squid at Adaro Paringin Modern Market. So today we do education and supervision. We can confirm that fresh fish, salted fish, and the sliced shrimp paste are declared free of formalin hazardous ingredients," he explained.
Most traders, he said, did not know of dangerous ingredients such as formalin and Rhodamin B would be dangerous for consumers, so that education and supervision should be given again.
