Martapura, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Banjar Regent H Khalilurrahman received United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) Indonesia's visit at his residence in Martapura, Wednesday (10/10). He was accompanied by the Head of Health Agency Ikhwansyah.
The Unicef delegation was led by Ermi Ndoen. Their visit was related to monitoring the implementation of measles and rubella (MR) immunization in Banjar District.
Ermi said Unicef was very supportive of the Indonesian Government in the success of the MR immunization campaigns throughout Indonesia, including in South Kalimantan and Banjar.
The benefits of MR immunization, she said, that children aged nine to less than fifteen years can be free from the threat of the disease.
This disease can be transmitted through breathing when coughing or sneezing and there is no cure, but both of these diseases can be prevented only through immunization.
10 grandchildren of Banjar Regent have been following in the immunization as one of the national programs on Friday.
"This really needs support from many people, parents, teachers and community leaders, so that Banjar children can be protected from disease," Ermi said
