Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin Municipal Government plans to build a suspension bridge for access to the remote Bromo Island in the southern part of the city.
Head of Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DisPUPR) Gusti Ridwan Sofyani said on Monday that the construction plan of the bridge to Bromo Island actually started in 2017.
"So in 2017 we have budgeted and even auctioned feasibility studies and engineering design detail (DED) for a bridge to Bromo Island, but failed," he said.
According to him, in 2017 the budget for feasibility studies and DED of the bridge was about Rp480 million, and this year has added to be around Rp600 million.
"Hopefully this year a lot will take part in the auction of this project, to no longer fail," he explained.
Gusti Ridwan described the plan of construction of the bridge is a suspension bridge that can only be passed by two wheels.
The reason, he said, the distance of the bridge construction is in accordance with the width of the river about 100 meters. This means that funds are very large if made permanently to be passed by four-wheeled vehicles.
"With the calculation of the ability of the budget, the possibility can only be made suspension bridge, because if permanent need hundreds of billions, as already on the Martapura River," said Gusti Ridwan.
He asserted, the city government is very serious to open the land route to the island of Bromo because there are quite a lot of residents live there.
"Moreover, Bromo Island will become a natural tourist attraction of Banjarmasin City," he concluded.
