Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Investigation Committe on Shipping Accident of the National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT) will investigate the sinking of the MV Keneukai ship in the waters of the Barito River.
"The KNKT team has come to uncover the exact cause of the sinking of the ship," said Head of the Banjarmasin Port Authority (KSOP) M Takwim Masuku here on Tuesday.
According to him, KSOP has finished examining the skipper and the entire crew of the ship. "The investigation report (BAP) has been completed, including the owner of the ship from Semarang has been called with the ship agent KS PAPE," Takwim told AntaranewsKalsel.
Currently, said Takwim, his side focus on securing the waterways around the scene of the sinking ship, so that no unwanted things happen.
"The ship traffic is not disturbed, just need the caution of the skipper who passed, we also have put additional signs on the stern of the ship," he said.
As reported by AntaranewsKalsel, the ship transporting cement of PT Conch sank in the waters of the Barito River when anchored not far from the Port of Trisakti Bandarmasih container pier, Friday (8/12).
The MV Keneukai's skipper M Lukman (27) claimed the ship's anchor was carried by the current till it crashed into a shipwreck under water. As a result of the collision, the hull of the right rear leaked into the water and caused the sinking.
No casualties in the incident. A total of 14 crew members were evacuated before the entire ship sank.
