Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The district government of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, held technical guidance or bimtek for library staff at the Grand Surya Hotel, Kotabaru.
Head of Library and Archives Office Kamirudin said that the technical guidance is strategic to strengthen knowledge, skills, and effectiveness of library staff.
"Village, school, and community libraries play a vital role as learning resource center in improving the quality of human resources," he said in Kotabaru, Wednesday.
Village and community libraries, he added, are easily accessible, while school libraries are the heart of education.

"To this end, we encourage bimtek participants to make the most of this opportunity and promote the benefits of libraries to the community, especially in rural areas," he said.
He also invited participants to strengthen cooperation with various parties, including schools in village, to optimize the function of library.
"This aligns with vision and mission of Kotabaru HEBAT (which stands for harmonious, energic, united, trustworthy, and resilient)," he said.
Head of Service Division Sofyan Hamid informed that this activity is a work program of the Kotabaru Library Office with the support of the Indonesian Librarians Association (IPI), a professional organization.
"The main objectives of the bimtek are to improve the competence of library staff and provide understanding of information technology developments and modern library service," he said.
100 participants attended the technical guidance which featured competent speakers. Participants came from various education institutions, village libraries, reading parks, and other work units in Kotabaru District.
The Kotabaru Library and Archive Office hopes the library staff to improve the quality of services and be able to answer the challanges of digital era, so that community literacy continues to develop.
