Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan Provincial Government has placed hundreds of health workers in remote areas of eleven districts to improve public health.
South Kalimantan Provincial Secretary Abdul Haris Makie in Banjarmasin on Monday said the government will immediately places 238 non-permanent employees (PTT) who had just received a letter of appointment.
According to him, in order to meet the 2019 healthy Indonesia target, there are now several programs, such as placement of health workers throughout the regions to help and improve public health in remote areas.
Through the program, it is expected that maternal and child mortality rates can be suppressed, as well as increasing community life expectancy.
The placement of 238 PTT personnel, which consisting of nurses, midwives, nutritionists and public health graduates, is still far below the target set, which is about 500 PTT, because of funds constrain.
According to head of South Kalimantan Health Agency HM Muslim, with the inclusion of 238 PTT workers, now the number of health PTT in South Kalimantan is 700. It is still far from the total villages in this area about 1900 villages.
