Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The Balikpapan Geophysics Station of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) had recorded a total of eight earthquakes rattled Kalimantan from July 25to 31, 2025.
Head of the Balikpapan Geophysics Station Rasmid in his statement in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Friday, said the tectonics quake had magnitudes ranging from 2.3 to 4.2.
Distribution of quakes included a shallow 3.6 mag occurred at 3.28 South Latitude (SL) -115.83 East Longitude (EL) on July 25 at 06.55 WITA (Central Indonesia Time Zone), 33 kilometers southwest of Berau, East Kalimantan, at a depth of 2 kilometers.

Rasmid said the quake was felt in Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan, with an intensity of II-III on the MMI scale. Some people felt the tremors and light hanging objects swayed.
A magnitude 3,0 quake occurred at 0.80 North Latitude -118.69 EL on July 26 around 04.30 WITA, 154 kilometers northeast of Bontang, East Kalimantan, at a depth of 8 kilometers.

On July 27 around 02.29 WITA, a magnitude 4.2 quake occurred at 0.74 North Latitude - 118.68 EL, 150 kilometers northeast of Bontang, 7 kilometers in depth.
Then on July 29 around 03.33 WITA, a magnitude 2.3 quake occurred at 0.19 SL - 110.36 EL, 40 kilometers southwest of Sanggau District, West Kalimantan, 10 kilometers in depth.
A magnitude 2.7 quake occurred at 1.54 NL-118.95 EL on July 30, 2025 around 06.22 WITA, 185 kilometers southeast of Berau at a depth of 6 kilometers.
A shallow magnitude 2.9 quake occurred at 0.95 NL-118.90 EL on July 30, 2025 around 18.45 WITA, 182 kilometers northeast of Bontang at a depth of 8 kilometers.
BMKG reported that so far of the eight shallow quakes no reports from the public regarding damage caused by the quakes in various locations.
