Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Housing and Human Settlements Office (Disperkim) is seeking to upgrade the quality of settlements in riverbank slums, including through socialization in collaboration with TP-PKK (the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team).
Head I of South Kalimantan TP-PKK for Family Character Development Masrupah Syarifudin said the outreach with the theme "Together Realizing Decent and Healthy Settlements on Riverbanks" emphasizes that families have a central role in creating environmental change.

“This is in line with the spirit of PKK movement to create a clean, healthy and sustainable lifestyle, starting from family,” she said in Banjarmasin, Wednesday.
The existance of PKK cadres up to the village and urban village levels, she pointed out, is an equal and potential social force in encouraging the success of various development programs, especially in the field of environmental health and family resilience.
TP-PKK has been actively educating community about Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), such as household waste management, the use of health latrines, and maintaining cleanliness of surrounding environment.

“PKK cadres are present among families and communities, sharing simple but impactful messages. When families are aware of the importance of sanitation, clean water, anda decent living space, changes will grow from within and be more sustainable,” she said.
Through their collaboration, Disperkim and TP PKK invite the community to strengthen cross-sector synergy. It is considered to be the key to successfully creating clean, healthy, and dignified environment, especially in vulnerable areas, such as riverbank.
