Barabai, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The district government of Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST), South Kalimantan, said it will optimize the Ministry of Environment's assistance for two waste banks to manage cleanliness of community environment, especially in government areas.
“The grant assistance in the form of two units of three-wheeled motorbike from the Ministry of Environment is to improve waste management in HST,” said Head of HST Environment and Transportation Office Mursyidi in Barabai, Hulu Sungai Tengah, Saturday.
The assistance were for Urban Dewan Waste Bank and Murakata Waste Bank. The ministry also provided assistance for three waste banks for other districts/cities.
“This assistance is the result of submitting proposals from each waste bank to improve their waste management,” he said.

Mursyidi hopes the three-wheeled motorbike assistance to be used optimally to support waste handling so it makes a big contribution to increase public awareness about the importance of clean environment.
He underscored that waste handling is not only the government's duty, but it is a shared responsibility, including youth, community organizations, companies, non-government organizations, and all level of society in general.
Head of South Kalimantan Environment Office Hanifah Dwi Nirwana said that the assistance was a form of the central government's concern for the regions in waste management.
She hopes this assistance can improve waste bank performance in waste management at the site level starting from villages, sub-districts, districts and cities, to prvinces.
Director of Urban Dewan Waste Bank Muliyadi Saputra expressed his thanks to the government for showing concern through waste bank grant assistance to local government.
“This assistance will be maximized to serve the community so they are wise in sorting waste from their houses. Moreover, Urban Waste Bank's customers have reached 6,623 spread across various points. This is will be maximized to pick up on small roads that are difficult to access by four-wheeled,” said Muliyadi.
