Barabai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The government of Central Hulu Sungai (HST) ready to provide scholarships to outstanding students continue their education up to the countries in the Middle East to deepen their knowledge of Islam.
Regent HST Abdul Latif here on Monday said scholarships to achievement student to study abroad is aimed at the regeneration of clergy in the district. He should get a recommendation and passed selection from the clerics and leader of the local Islamic boarding school of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).
"We do selection to students who really serious to study and have considerable experience and knowledge so when in overseas they are more adaptable," he said.
Other requirements, if completed study, should returned and preaching in the HST. "The purpose to provide scholarships is for the deployment of indigenous scholars," he said.
In addition, HST government also provides scholarships to achievement students to study medicine, but shall serve in the district.
"To meet the needs of specialists, we collaborate with the faculty of medicine in Indonesia. We target native students financed by HST government are subject to return and serve in their homeland," said Latif.
Currently, there are 10 students who received scholarships from the HST government studying in the ULM faculty of medicine. The details two were sent in 2014, three in 2015 and five in 2016.
