South Kalimantan's Timpora checks crews documents on board foreign vessel

Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Sea Foreigners Surveillance Team (Timpora Laut) checked the document of foreign nationals on board foreign ship when sailing in South Kalimantan waters.

"Quite a lot of foreign ships sailing in South Kalimantan, this is our target in the operation," said Head of South Kalimantan Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Jumadi who lead the Timpora operation on Wednesday.

One of the ships inspected was a Hong Kong flagged Mother Vessel Ocean Fortune which was in the waters of Taboneo, Tanah Laut District.

The ships captain, Zhou Houng, welcomed the team and coordinated well with officers who carried out the inspection.

Based on the results of the inspection by the joint team from CIQ, the ship was declared to comply with all applicable standards and regulations.

Jumadi and the team also held a dialogue with Captain Zhou and the ship's crews to take a closer look at the activities on the ship. Also to understand the conditions and needs of foreign crews operating in the Indonesian territory.

Jumadi, who was accompanied by Head of Immigration Division Junita Sitorus, said that the joint operation was not only about immigration, but to show the strength of synergy between agencies to ensure security in South Kalimantan waters.

Banjarmasin Naval Base Commander Marine Colonel (P) Didik Kusyanto also emphasized the role of Indonesian Navy by providing ship facilities and ensuring safety and smooth operation.

Meanwhile, Zhou Houng representing the crew of the foreign ship, appreciated the inspection that was caried out transparently and professionally.

He acknowledged to be contented to see support from Indonesian authorities in maintaining security in Taboneo waters.

The joint operation was also attended by Head of Banjarmasin Custom and Excise Office R. Teddy Laksmana, representatives of Health Quarantine Agency, Harbormaster and Port Authority, and PT Indonesia Multi Purpose Terminal (IMPT).
