The South Kalimantan Board of Development Planning (Bappeda) is taking several strategic steps to pursue 8 percent economic growth by 2030, including accelerating strategic development projects.
Head of the agency's Economic and Natural Resource Division Theodorik Rizal Manik in Banjarbaru on Tuesday said accelerating economic growth will be the regional government's main focus for the next few years.
“Based on the central government circular, the regional government are required to form acceleration team to pursue 8 percent growth with the hope we can achieve the figure by 2029,” he said.

Regional governments are also required to report monthly economic growth development through Kendali Ekonomi Daerah (regional economic control) website, which is then submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs's Pusat Kinerja (Pusker/performance center).
“We have been doing this reporting since last September, as a form of the regional commitment and consistency in overseeing economic growth targets,” he added.
This activity also serves to evaluate and adjust the structure of acceleration team etablished the previous year.
“We review the team, whether it is still relevant or needs strengthening. We also discuss various inputs to improve efforts to achieve 8 percent target,” he expounded.

In the meeting, they discuss strategy for monitoring local budget, accelerating strategic regional projects, strengthening downstream sector, and increasing productivity.
All these aspects are then aligned with the policy direction of government's plan, which emmpahsizes on accelerating economic growth.
The South Kalimantan economic growth in 2026 is projected to be around 5.8 percent.
This will rice to 6.5 percent in 2027 according to planning document.
The increase planned to be gradual, reaching 8.1 percent by 2030.
South Kalimantan government optimistic through these coordinating and evaluative steps, the ambitious yet measurable economic growth target can be achieved, along with strengthening governance of planning, control, and cross-sector synergy in the region.
