Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar has confirmed additional tenure of five village heads and 27 members of Village Consultative Body (BPD) in Pulau Sembilan Sub-district.
Sayed Jafar then congratulated village heads and BPD members whose length of service has now extended from six to eight years.
"With this extension of term of office, I hope village heads and BPD members continue to contribute to village development, and improve people's welfare, synergize between village government and the community to achieve common goal," he said as reported on Wednesday (Oct 23, 2024).

The extension of term of office was conducted to comply with Law Number 3 of 2024 concerning Second Amandement to Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Village. This new village law regulates the extension of village head's term of office from 6 years to 8 years.
The Regend reminded village heads to keep on digging up the potential of the village.
"The successful development of a village cannot be separated from the role of village head as a leader and BPD members in the village. Village head and BPD in carrying out their duties and obligations have a big responsibility for the welfare of the community through the development," he explained.
On that occasion, Sayed Jafar encouraged all village heads and members of BPD, who have just been confirmed, to continue to develop Pulau Sembilan Sub-district.
The Regent of Kotabaru and his entourage also visited small and medium business developed by Family Empowerment and Welfare driving team(TP-PKK) from five villages in Pulau Sembilan, namely Labuan Barat, Teluk Sungai, Maradapan, Tengah and Tanjung Nyiur.
