Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan Province, HM Rusli quickly responded to seawater abration in RT (neighborhood unit) 001, RW (community unit) 001 Pantai Village, Kelumpang Selatan Sub-district, by distributing aid to the victims.
"The victims have been evacuated to a safer place, also have received basic necessities from the local government," said Kotabaru Regent represented by Head of Kotabaru Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Hendra Indrayana in Kotabaru, Friday.
The disaster caused a 5x12 meter house with wooden wall and pile foundation to completely collapsed into the sea on Thursday April 2 at 18.45 pm Wita.

Previously, on Wednesday April 1 , houseowner noticed the house increasingly tilted rear foundation. Not long then, the foundation, made of piles, began to collapsed into the muddy ground.
On Thusday, local residents helped evacuate victims when their houses began to tilt. There were no casualties and material loss were estimated at Rp23 million.
"Next step taken, we coordinate with Housing, Settlement and Land Office so that residents affected receive assistance for home repair," he said.

The assistance provided included 10 kg of rice, soy sauce 3 bottles, 3 cans of sardines, glasses, plates, spoons, mats, mattresses, hygiene kit, blankets, cooking oil, sugar and instant noodles.
Head of Kelumpang Selatan Sub-district Sugeng expressed his gratitude to the Regent and BPBD for their quick respond to the report of disaster in Pantai Village.
"Pantai Village is a coastal area and almost 90 percent of its population live in this area, facing high risk of natural disaster, such as tidal flooding and coastal erosion," he said.
