Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru Deputy Regent Syairi Mukhlis emphasized the importance of regional government's openness to critism and input from the public, as in today's era of open information the public has a freedom to express their aspiration, including through the media.
“Today, everyone is free to express critism, suggestion and input to the regional government. Our task as policymakers is to respond to these concern wisely, so that they are well-received by the public,” he said at the morning ceremony and halal bihalal gathering at the courtyard of the Kotabaru regent's office, as part of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri celebration, as reported on Tuesday.
He also reminded all levels of government not to be defensive in the face of critism, but use it as a basis for evaluation to improve performance and public service.

“Don't be anticritism. Instead, critism and suggestion shoud motivate us to work better. We wil prove through a actual performance that the government's programs are on track and beneficial to the public,” he pointed out.
He encouraged all ASN to remain enthusiastic in carrying out their duties and maintain solidarity in developing the region.
Deputy Regent also extended his Eid al Fitr greetings to all attendees. He also offered his sincere apologies, both personally and on behalf of the regional leadership.
“On behalf of myself and on behalf of the Regent of Kotabaru, we say Minal aidin wal faizin, mohon maaf lahir dan batin (we seek forgiveness from the heart and soul). During our nearly one-year term, there have undoubtedly been shortcomings and unpleasant things for which we apologize,” he said.
