Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The City Government of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan Province, has provided technical guidance on sign language to learn Islam to "deaf friends" or people with hearing impairments.
The city Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo) in a written statement informed on Saturday that the technical guidance was attended by dozens of deaf friends at City Hall, Friday, July 5, 2024.
"Technical guidance was provided to fulfill the equal right of ordinary people and people with disabilities to seek knowledge, especialy religious knowledge," said Banjarbaru Regional Secretary Said Abdullah when opening the event.
He said that to dozens deaf friends who attended the guidance diberikan pemahaman terkait agama dan bacaan shalat, terutama surah-surah pendek Al Quran serta pelajaran mengenai hukum tajwid.
The activity, he pointed out, is a concrete step in supporting social and religious inclution for people with hearing impairments who sould have equal access to religious education.
"Deaf friends also need to learn more about islam, so that in the future they can apply it in life, such as prayer and the correct Islamic laws," he said.
Said Abdullah conveyed to the leadership of Islamic boarding school (pesantren) regarding the city government's policy of being ready to fund ustadz or ustadzah who want to deepen their knowledge of religioun through sign language.
"Please if there are ustadz or ustadzah who want to learn sign language so they can teach and the city government will fund the learning process, including those who want to learn outside the region," he said.
The technical guidance presented Head of Darul Ashom Yogyakarta Islamic Boarding School Kyai Abu Khafi as main resource person, who is widely known in developing inclusive education in his pesantren.
