Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Banjarbaru City Government has recorded the highest human development index (HDI) compared to other 12 regions in South Kalimantan in 2023.
"We are grateful that Banjarbaru's HDI becomes the highest compared to districts and cities in South Kalimantan. Hopefully, Banjarbaru is getting better and advanced," said Banjarbaru Mayor Muhammad Aditya Mufti Ariffin here, Saturday.
Aditya said that based on the Central Statistics Agency's (BPS's) report Banjarbaru's HDI has scored 81.25 or the highest in the province.

Meanwhile, the top three highest HDIs in South Kalimantan after Banjarbaru City, whose status has become the capital of South Kalimantan, are Banjarmasin with a value of 79.98, followed by Tabalong District 75.43.
HDI is an important indicator to measure the government's success in developing the quality of human life or residents in the respective region. If it increases, then the regional government's performance is good, but if it doesn't the performance is questionable.
Banjarbaru City under the leadership of Mayor Muhammad Aditya Mufti Ariffin strives to improve the quality of life of the society as evidenced by the growth of HDI.
Banjarbaru's HDI value in 2021 was 80.41, then in 2022 increased to 80.82 and continued to rise in 2023 to reach the value of 81.25 to become the highest in South Kalimantan.
The increasing of HDI in the era of Mayor Aditya occurs in all dimension, both longevity and healthy living, as well as knowledge, and a decent standard of living for society.
