Marabahan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Barito Kuala Food Security and Counseling Agency (BKPP) held a thanksgiving for organic rice harvest in the village of Karang Buah, Sub-district of Belawang, Tuesday (24/8).
In that occasion, Vice Regent H Ma'mun Kaderi also handed over some awards to outstanding agriculture counseling workers (PPL) in the area.
Head of BKPP Suwandi said the awards were given to state agricultural counselor, state fishery counselor, forestry counselor, THL, TBPP, self-help agricultural counselor, self-help fisheries counselor, self-help forestry counselor.
"The awards were also given to the main actors of marine and fisheries, Gapoktan, Agricultural Counseling Center, Kecil Menanam Dewasa Memanen (small planting adult harvesting)," he said.
Vice Regent said Batola is one of the largest rice-producing region at the same time a national food buffer area in the province of South Kalimantan.
"To that end, local government commitment is so great in spurring the increase in community welfare who were mostly farmers," he said.
It is done, he stated, by continuing to facilitate the increased development in the field of agriculture, providing a variety of modern and semi-modern agricultural equipment and carry out a tested applicable technology program of planting organic rice.
Thus, according to him, the paddy fields can continue to be processed properly and taking into account environmental conservation efforts.
In the dry season this year, the extent of the rice harvest belonging to Gakpotan Margomulyo in the Karang Buah village reached 40 hectares of rice fields with yields per hectare up to 9 tons of dry grain.
