Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) was named as the national best in disaster management logistics cluster by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
"Alhamdulillah (Thank God) coinciding with the commemoration of Disaster Risk Reduction Month in Southeast Sulawesi, South Kalimantan BPBD was named the best national province for initiating the formation of disaster management logistics cluster," said Head of South Kalimantan BPBD Raden Suria Fadliansyah in Banjarbaru, Sunday.
According to Suria, the award was obtained after the BPBD quickly implemented the direction of Governor H Sahbirin Noor or popularly called Uncle Birin, to immediately form logistics cluster in disaster management. He said logistics cluster for disaster management is very important at the regional level.

It facilitates coordination and collaboration between stakeholders and community in logistics availability, it also facilitates efforts to accelerate disaster handling.
Logistics cluster in disaster management in South Kalimantan is also equipped with legal power of a Governor's decree.
The BNPB's Deputy for Logistics and Equipment Dr. Lilik Kurniawan, ST, MSi, noted in the agency's press statement that disaster handling need to be in line with adequate logistics and equipment.
Improving the management of logistics and equipment is very important. Based on WFP data, 73 percent of emergency handling are completed when logistics and equipment are met.
"But logistics alone is not enough, we need human resources who are able to manage it, So we need to strengthen the management to be better,” said Lilik.
