Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - Chief of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Petrus Reinhard Golose encouraged students to become young generation that clean from drugs by jointly committed to fighting drug abuse and circulation.
"Students are intellectuals who shouldn not use drugs because they are considered to be able to filter themselves from all bad things such as drugs," he remarked during a public lecture at the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Wednesday.
Even though he acknowledged there is no campus is truly free from drugs for all its factors. Just as no region can be free from drug abuse by its residents.
However, Golose motivated the academic community to remain steadfast in their fight against drugs by committing themselves not to consume them.
"I appreciate ULM Rector for his policy conducting drug tests for every new student, This is an early detection to prevent the negative influence of people contaminated as users," he said.
The BNN tagline "War on Drugs" that continues to be echoed, he said, is to realize BNN's mission by using a softpower approach, hardpower approach, smartpower approach, and cooperation or sinergy strategy, both nationally and internationally.
"This strategy is to realize Indonesia Bersinar (clean from drugs) both holistically and comprehensively," emphasized the three starts general who is a permanent professor of Police Science at the National Police Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat Polri).
ULM Rector Prof. Ahmad Alim Bachri said that the presence of BNN chief has become an injector of enthusiasm for all his staff in the campus to continue to be committed to ridding the academic community from these illicit things.
"We will not allow prospective student who is a drug user to enter ULM, it could have a negative influence on other 37 thousand ULM students," he said.
Meanwhile, the Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor emphasized that the local government is committed to preparing superior quality of human resources without the influence of drugs.
"There are no words than fighting drugs with all power and joint effort to fight it," he said.
On the occasion, Chief of BNN gave awards to Governor Sahbirin Noor, ULM Rector Prof Ahmad Alim Bachri, Chairman of South Kalimantan DPRD Sufian HK, Regional Police Chief of South Kalimantan Inspector General Andi Rian Djajadi, and acting Regent of Barito Kuala Mujiyat for their active role in supporting and facilitating the Prevention and Eradication of Abuse and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics (P4GN) program.
