Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of Tapin HM Arifin Arpan distributed assistance in the form of staple needs for residents affected by the coal barges hit in Kaladan Village.
"We provide assistance in form of 5 kg of rice to instan noodle ," said Arifin here on Monday.
Even though it is not much, he said, hopefully this assistance will be useful for the victims whose houses were badly damaged by the coal barges.
“Hopefully the company can also help,” he said.

Kaladan Village Head Muhammad Faleh expressed his gratitude for the assistance from the local government to his residents.
“Representing the residents, I thank the Regent who is willing to come and immediately provide assistance,” he said.
As reported, two coal barges hit 35 houses in Kaladan Village, Tapin District, South Kalimantan, Saturday April 22, 2023.
A number of victims fled to their families' and neighbors' homes and some are still holding out in the houses that are almost collapsed.
Currently, the village and the company are still collecting data on the amout of losses suffered by the community. After that, a mediation will be carried out regarding compensation.
