Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - The cooking oil cash assistance has been distributed to around 72 percent of the targeted 85,328 beneficiary families in Surabaya City, East Java Province, an official of the Social Affairs Ministry informed.
"I hope it (the distribution) can reach 99 percent as soon as possible. Currently, it continues to be accelerated because the target is set to be reached before Eid," Director General of Social Protection and Security at the Ministry of Social Affairs Pepen Nazaruddin said.
He made the statement while monitoring the distribution of cooking oil cash assistance as well as the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) and the Family Hope Program (PKH) assistance at the Kenjeran Subdistrict office here on Sunday,
On that occasion, he lauded the Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi for the excellent achievement of the cash assistance distribution in the City.
Nazaruddin expressed hope that residents who have received the assistance could utilize it well for beneficial things.
Special Staff of Social Affairs Minister for Foreign Institutions Relations and Partnerships Faozan Amar assessed that the distribution of the cooking oil cash assistance in Surabaya was running well in general.
"Hopefully, the public will be more aware of the information so that those who have received an invitation can immediately come to the post office or the designated locations (to get the assistance)," he said.
Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi said that there were 220 beneficiary families who symbolically received the cash assistance at the Kenjeran Subdistrict office.
The mayor affirmed that the government of Surabaya City synergized with relevant agencies to ensure that the right targets received the assistance.
"Alhamdulillah (thank God), everything is running well. We can also see the acceleration efforts made by PT Pos and BNI so that we can jointly give the best (services) for residents," he said.
Cahyadi noted that the assistance provided by the government would ease the burden of people with low incomes in Surabaya City.
