Marabahan, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Barito Kuala (Batola) District is beginning its preparation for the South Kalimantan Students Game (Popda) to be held on July 11 to 15, 2022. Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism Agency (Disporbudpar) was starting student athletes selection, Monday (March 14, 2022).
A total 300 junior and senior high school students took part in the selection which was opened by the Regent Hj Noormiliyani AS, and 112 of them will be taken to represent the district to the provincial Student Games.
"This selection is to obtain quality and outstanding athletes to represent Batola students at the provincial Popda, which is scheduled to be on July 15," said acting Head of Disporbudpar Raudatul Jannah.
She said they will compete in seven sports, namely football, basketball, volley ball, badminton, boxing, tennis court, and the traditional martial art pencak silat.
Regent Hj Noormiliyani AS warmly welcomed the selection. She said Popda can be a mean to build young generation who are physically and mentally health, knowledgeable, skillful, and competitive.
“We hope that this selection will be able to explore, foster, and develop the seeds of talented athletes from among students to maintain the continuity and efforts to produce outstanding generation from Batola,” she said.
“Now is the time for you to show your talents, potential, and abilities according to the sport you are involved in,” she emphasized.
