Amuntai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) chapter of North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan, will send three of its athletes to participate in the national training camp (pelatnas) in Jakarta early this year.
"This three athletes if qualify will join the national training camp (pelatnas) team, please pray for and support," said HSU PBSI coach Kharief Fadillah in Amuntai, Thursday (January 6, 2022).
He said the three athletes to be sent were students at the state high school SMAN 2 Amuntai. They were Muhammad Nauval, Selvi Riskia, and Wahyu Rizki.
They were to be sent to Pelatnas selection after winning the provincial level selection at Rizki Sport Hall 2 Banjarbaru.
"Muhammad Nauval and Selvi Riskia won the mixed double, and Wahyu Rizki won the men's double," said HSU PBSI Secretary Erwan.
After the provincial selection in December 16-18, 2021 and declared entitled to take part in Pelatnas selection, they with the help of HSU KONI Chairman H. Berkati then practiced intensively for half a month at PB Berkat Abadi.
"Especially for Selvi and Wahyu Rizki have been assisted by KONI since a year ago to be practicing at PB Berkat Abadi," Erwan said.
Pelatnas selection will be held during January 10 -16. If they pass, they will join the national training camp in Cipayung, with the length of training depending on the evaluation of the trainer.
Chairman of HSU PBSI Kharief hopes that the three junior athletes will make achievement at the national level .
The national achievement had actually been achieved by HSU athletes. Since 2018 through the training program for early ages, there have been several HSU badminton players who have excelled at the national level.
