Amuntai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The national road section in North Hulu Sungai (HSU), precisely on the bridge connecting Pinang Habang Village, Amuntai Tengah Sub-district, and Danau Cermin, threatened to break because at one point it cracked and was prone to collapse.
Acting Regent of HSU H Husairi Abdi, together with Chairman of South Kalimantan DPRD's Commission III H Sahrujani, and the Implementation Unit of the National Road Management Region ll South Kalimantan observed the condition of the road, Sunday (Dec 5, 2021).
"We also received inputs and complaints from the public regarding a number of damage to the road at several points, especially the trans Kalimantan road," said Husairi.
Chairman of Commission III H Sahrujani said that the review was carried out in addition to ensuring the road condition, his party planned to discuss the problem at the hearing meeting (RDP) to find a solution.
The former chairman of the HSU DPRD considered the need for immediate action for the first step, such as a notification board to prevent accidents.
Meanwhile, the representative of the National Road Management Agency Muhammad Shalafuddin admitted that the review was to take the first step to overcome, to evaluate, and find out how much damage was caused. He hopes that the repairs to damage can be carried out soon.
The trans-Kalimantan road in the HSU area has suffered severe damage at several points, including the intersection of Jalan Pariwara and Palampitan Hulu which often causes traffic jams.
On that occasion, the acting Regent also reviewed and handed over basic food assistance for residents affected by the flood. The assistance collected from the local government and private sector was in the form of 50 sacks of rice, 50 kg of sugar, 1 box of sardines, and six boxes of instant noodles.
"People should remain calm and patients in the face of calamity, each maintaining their safety and security of themselves and their families," he said.
The Head of Pinang Habang Village Ansyari on behalf of his residents expressed gratitude and thanked for the assistance provided by the local government.
"Hopefully this assistance can be useful for our daily lives which still having difficulties due to the flood," he said.
