Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Since 2015 Adaro has been actively sending environment activists from various professions and generations to participate in the Green Leader program entitled Eco-camp which is being held by the Bandung Sahabat Lingkungan Hidup Foundation.
By participating in eco-camp, Adaro wants to invite environmental activists to sow the seeds of ecological awareness through changes with simple steps.
“We got a lot of new perspectives, our perspective changed when we see water, air, and soil," said a participant from SMAN 2 Juai, Balangan District, and Green Leader batch 6 of 2020, Rahmatullah.
While Ecocamp alumni Risna Susanti began to reduce the use of plastic by choosing to bring a drink bottle and shopping bag to support environmental conservation efforts.
"I begin to buy less packaged drinking water and bringing a shopping bag to reduce plastic waste," said Risna.
During the pandemic in 2020, the eco-camp activities were still carried out online.
It is different from most environment activities, which usually are filled with curriculum and theory. It presents the concept of sustainable environmental preservation as a habit in daily life.
Simple language and practice are used to open the participants' eyes even gently slap life habits that unconsciously become a pile of ecological sins in life.
The most basic thing that is given in Ecocamp is introducing seven ecological awarenesses, namely quality, an ability to manage weakness, and being responsible, then simple, namely a simplicity in lifestyle and mindset.
Including awareness of being frugal in the use of resources, caring for oneself, others, and the environment, sharing with all limitations, being meaningful in life, and being a person who brings hope in society.
One activist from Putra-Putri Saraba Kawa (PUSAKA) of Tabalong District, Lyanta Laras Putri, said that of the seven awareness the most impressive is the awareness of quality,
“Speaking of quality is not only about environmentally friendly lifestyle but also challenging yourself to keep improving your abilities, turning your weakness into strengths, even values," she said.
She hopes that in the future more people will be involved in serving the earth by initiating changes in simple steps to maintain the survival of our earth.
