Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of Kotabaru H Sayed Jafar asked Fisheries Agency to facilitate fish farmers to be able to access capital either from state budget (APBN), the district budget (APBD), or from private, such as corporate social responsibility (CSR).
"The agency should also provide an accompanying assistance to fish farmers and to monitor their farming business until they are successful," he said.
The Kotabaru government, he pointed out, will keep supporting shrimp farming activities, because this business has good prospects. Thus it has a positive impact on economic growth and people's welfare.

Kotabaru, which has a pond potential of around 6,000 hectares, is facing the problem of low productivity of pond shrimp, which is in the range of 50 kg-60 kg per hectare.
One of the reasons is that they still use traditional aquaculture or there is no appropriate technology applied here. In addition, the availability of super seeds is difficult to obtain, and the high price of feed.
