Kandangan, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) H Achmad Fikry observed the Haratai waterfall eco-tourism, Loksado Sub-district, to see first hand the existing facilities and to monitor the implementation of health protocols.
Head of Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office (Disporapar) H.M.K. Saputra said on Wednesday (June 9, 2021) that Haratai waterfall had actually been opened two weeks ago with a soft opening. The Regent visit is to reopen and become a promotion to the tourist destination of Loksado.
"We have reopened Loksado tourist area, and tourists can visit and enjoy it, of course by implementing COVID-19 prevention health protocols," he said.
In addition to the waterfall, gazebos are provided to relax, photo spots, as well as lasmin or stalls that provide culinary specialties of HSS District.
The health protocols start from the gate with temperature checks, and at each Haratai attraction there are health protocol officers, thus the implementation is quite strict.
It also applies to other tourist areas, such as Tanuhi hot springs.
The reopening of the Loksado attraction was in accordance with the direction of the Minister of Tourism that it is allowed to open, but with the strict and disciplined application of health protocols.
Regent H Achmad Fikry said that the improvement of Haratai attraction is very good, now the facilities provided were more complete, plus a cool and comfortable atmosphere.

According to him, the development of the Haratai tourist destinations cannot be separated from the assistance of the South Kalimantan provincial government through the Forestry Office.
"Especially Hanif Faisol Nurrofiq who now serves at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. He has a big role in promoting tourism in Haratai, and becoming a leading tourism ambassador for South Kalimantan with the authenticity of nature and life of indigenous Dayak people," said the Regent who with Deputy Regent Syamsuri Arsyad.
The Regent on that occasion handed over grants to Balai Adat Tumingki, Balai Adat Haratai, and Sanggar Seni (Art Workshop of) Kompas as a form of government attention to the preservation of culture and art in HSS. He then took his time to see the condition of elementary school SDN Haratai 1 which was being completely renovated.
