Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin City will have a central market, after the disbursement of funds by the central government Rp25 billion for the initial stages of development of the market.
"City Government has received funding from the Ministry of Commerce Rp25 billion for the construction of the central market, which is located in the South Ring Road (Jalan Lingkar Selatan)," said Head of Banjarmasin Market Agency Hermansyah to the press here on Sunday.
According to Hermansyah, market design has been created and the site has been prepared and the next is realization of development.
Banjarmasin city government has long wanted to build the main market to replace the wholesale market in Pasar Baru and Pasar Lima which considered not ideal anymore. Besides being in the center of town also
cause chaos in the location.
When the wholesale market near the Port of Trisakti is realized, then the wholesale market in Pasar Baru and Pasar Lima transferred gradually. Among are the onion market, vegetable market, rice market, dried fish and wet fish market, also groceries market.
Thus the Pasar Baru road that has not been able to work because of parking of large trucks will be enabled as for large trucks automatically will move its activities to central market anyway.
So is the staple food markets, such as sugar, flour, and various other needs to be transferred to the central market.
Pasar Baru later become a wholesale market for retailers both for merchants in the city of Banjarmasin, as well as from other cities in South Kalimantan, also from the neighboring province of Central Kalimantan and East Kalimantan.
