Barabai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Chinook N303AJ helicopter piloted by Robert Joseph Sperry and Kenneth Allen Torrez, two US citizens, suddenly landed on city center of Barabai, right on Dwi Warna Square, Friday (Oct 23,2020) at 15.00 local time.
This finally attracted many residents who happen to pass by. People approached, took photos and videos.
The crowd of residents was inevitable, even though members of TNI-Polri and the HST District Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) prevented them away, people still approaching.
It turned out, the chopper was carrying 9,000 cloth masks as assistance from the Provincial Disaster Mitigation Agency for the need of regional election (pilkada) in HST.
"There are 15 thousand cloth masks from Sasirangan for HST residents, but we only bring 9,000. The rest will be transported by land next week," said one of the chopper crew members, Head of Preparedness Sub-Division of South Kalimantan BPBD Muhari after handing over the aid to the HST Regent at the field.
He said the distribution of masks was a program of South Kalimantan COVID-19 Task Force in an effort to break the chain of the pandemic. Each district and city, especially those holding the regional election, received masks ration.
"These masks are expensive, why? Because transportation is by helicopter. A successful election, people healthy," said Muhari.
Reget HST H A Chairansyah said the Chinook helicopter arrived suddenly. Thus the welcoming was carried out spontaneously.
"Hopefully the regional election (pilkada) will run smoothly," said the regent.
Head of HST General Elections Commission (KPU) Johransyah also said he had just received the information this morning about the arrival of the chopper.
Although HST KPU had also procured masks for pilkada needs, according to Johransyah, the additional masks was very helpful for the commission various activities.
