Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The district government-owned water company PDAM Kotabaru innovates by opening water sales service to vessels dock at the fish landing port (PPI) on Jl Stagen, Sungai Taib Village, Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district.
Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar inaugurated the PDAM's first service at the PPI by symbolically opening a water filling tap to a fishing boat on Wednesday (April 8, 2020).
"The sale of clean water to ships passing through Kotabaru waters has greatly facilitated the community, especially fishing vessel around," the regent said.
Sayed remarked, selling water to ships is an additional effort of PDAM to increase revenue, besides serving the Kotabaru residents through the existing network.
The regent hopes, through business and innovation like this, the PDAM in the future could be independent and no longer depend on the local government through capital participation.
"Hopefully in the future, there will be no more capital participation. We hope PDAM has its own business that grows and progress," he concluded.
Meanwhile, PDAM Kotabaru PR Sarwani said, the water sale to ships in PPI with a capacity of 10 liters per second is fully managed by PDAM KOtabaru without involving the third party.
Present at the event were a number of government agencies (SKPD) heads, Director and staff of PDAM Kotabaru, and the local people.
